Margaret Alaimo was named Associate Director of Athletics at St. Thomas Aquinas College by Director of Athletics Nicole Ryan on August 1, 2023.

Alaimo will assist with the day-to-day oversight of 22 Spartan Intercollegiate Sports teams, along with the college's four Varsity Sports programs. She will also be responsible for organizing weekly practice schedules and coordinating assignments of game day officials and administrators for all home athletic events, in addition to working with the coaching staffs on all matters involving equipment purchasing, travel, and recruiting.

Margaret will work with the Director of Athletics on initiatives and special projects, evaluating functions, practices and the efficiency of facilities, and evaluating staff performance and providing leadership and guidance for personnel, while representing the college at conference and national meetings and serving as a liaison between the Athletic Department and Residence Life/Dining Services offices. 

Alaimo recently served as the Director of Athletics and Recreation at St. Joseph's University in Brooklyn, New York (2019-23). Duting her time at St. Joe's, she oversaw all aspects of the department with a focus on mentoring and development of coaches and staff along with elevating the overall student-athlete experience. These efforts yielded an increase in academic and athletic successes, highlighted by a department average GPA of over 3.2, two valedictorians and several major post season award winners. She worked closely with colleagues across campus on many initiatives, including the University's annual giving days, rebranding efforts and the university's annual golf outing. In addition, she was an instructor of the first year experience course offered to all new students.

Prior to her time at St. Joseph's, Alaimo served as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (2015-2019) and as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (2004-2015) at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus in Brooklyn, N.Y. In her various roles that spanned more than three decades, her responsibilities expanded to include oversight for the day to day management of the department. This included mentoring coaches, staff and students, budget oversight, coordinating team transportation, assisting with event management, strategic planning and program expansion. She also served as tournament manager for many Northeast Conference championships through the years. Alaimo was also the deputy title IX coordinator and the liason for admissions, financial aid and residence life offices. She got her start in the business as the first full time head coach at LIU in March of 1987. She took on other coaching duties as needed, including tennis (1988-93) and softball (1990-95).

Alaimo's other previous college athletic adminstrative roles include Associate Director of Athletics at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey (2002-2004).

Alaimo earned a B.S. in Business Management from St. Francis College in 1987 and has studied in the Master of Science in Education program at LIU Brooklyn. She was also a former basketball student-athlete at St. Francis, has been inducted into the St. Francis College Athletic Hall of Fame (2002) and Cathlolic High School Hall of Fame (2003).
