The St. Thomas Aquinas College baseball team is ranked #4 in the first NCAA Division II East Region poll of the season, released on Wednesday, April 25. The Spartans are the only ranked team from the East Coast Conference, and they currently trail Southern New Hampshire College, LeMoyne College and Franklin Pierce College.

Six teams from the East Region will receive bids to the 2012 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, which begins with regional play on May 17-21. Three of those seeds will be awarded via automatic bid to the champions of the ECC, Northeast-10, and Central Atlantic Collegiate conferences, with the other three being at-large bids. There will be two more weekly rankings before the tournament field is selected.

St. Thomas Aquinas entered the week with a 27-13 overall record and remained in the #4 spot in the D2baseballnews.com rankings, while holding the #5 position from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
