The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team is asking all fans to come out to Provident Bank Park next week to support a charitable effort benefiting The Wounded Warrior Project.   The Spartans encourage fans to make a pledge to this benevolent organization, which is dedicated to supporting and raising awareness for injured service members.  

Patrons can support the cause by making a donation or by pledging $1 or $3 per run scored by the Spartans over a five game stretch. STAC and the University of Bridgeport are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a single game against Molloy College on Tuesday, April 24th at 3:30 p.m.  The event will culminate on Saturday, April 28th as the Spartans take on the Mercy College Mavericks in doubleheader action beginning at noon.  There will be a presentation for the Wounded Warrior Project between the first and second games.  The Wounded Warrior Project donation table, where the Spartans will also be selling camouflage hats, will be set up on the main level for all five games.

Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP) began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life.  Tens of thousands of Wounded Warriors and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
