Spartan Baseball Gets Back on Track, Beats Bridgeport 3-2

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team held on for a 3-2 victory over the University of Bridgeport, to take the 3-game ECC series from the Purple Knights on Sunday afternoon in Bridgeport, CT. The Spartans improve to 12-1 overall, with a 6-1 ECC mark, while Bridgeport now stands at 6-6, 6-6.

Leading the STAC offense on Sunday was Matthew Johnson (1-for-4, Run Scored), Sean Lynch (1-for-3, Run Scored), Christopher Conti (1-for-4, Double) and Danny Di Marzo (1-for-2).

On the mound, starter Alex Mack picked up his third win of the season in four starts. Mack pitched 7.0 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs (0 earned), while walking none and striking out 11 opposition batters. James Reilly closed things out for the Spartans, pitching two almost perfect innings, surrendering only a walk, while striking out one.
