STAC Baseball Suffers 6-4 Setback to Post University

Lake Worth, Fla. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball suffered a 6-4 setback to Post University on Sunday afternoon at the Santaluces Sports Complex.

STAC drops to 4-9, while Post improves to 4-10 on the season.

How it Happened

  • Post University posted runs in back-to-back innings to open the contest, with Evan Cornwall drawing a bases loaded walk in the first inning, scoring Jimmy Brennan to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, before Hunter Keller's second inning RBI single to left field brought Brycin Hernandez to the plate to double the lead to 2-0.
  • An Andrew Jemison RBI single in the fifth, scored C.J. Cumbo, to give STAC it's first run of game, making it 2-1.
  • In the sixth inning, Evan Cornwall scored on a wild pitch and Nate Miller reached home via a STAC error to increase the Post lead to 4-1.
  • Pinch-hitter Matt Goehrig's single to right field in the seventh, scoring Hunter Keller made it 5-1.
  • Robert Olah's sacrifice fly to left, allowed Jimmy Brennan to trot home, giving the Eagles a 6-1 advantage.
  • Andrew Jemison's RBI ground out in the bottom of the frame, scored C.J. Cumbo to cut to the STAC deficit to four at 6-2.
  • The Spartans would attempt a comeback in the eighth, with Andrew Guerra first singling to left, allowing Gregory DiGiaro to score, followed by Christopher Conti's RBI single to center field, scoring Danny Di Marzo to make it a 6-4 game.
  • The STAC rally resumed in the ninth as Sean Lynch doubled to left field, but it would be spoiled by two maroon and gold fly-outs and a foul out to end the game, giving Post the two-run victory
