Lake Worth, Fla. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Baseball team dropped a 7-2 non-conference decision to Southern Connecticut State University on Monday afternoon at the Santaluces Sports Complex.

STAC falls to 4-10 on the season, while Southern Connecticut moves to 11-1.

How it Happened

  • Southern Connecticut scored two runs in the first inning, as and Andrew Eng two RBI double brought home both Tony Zambito and Bill Sullivan.
  • The Owls doubled their lead at 4-0 in the third, with a Connor Goggin double, scoring Andrew Eng, followed by a Mike DeMartino double, plating Goggin.
  • A fourth inning bases loaded walk to Kyle Lagrutta , allowed Matthew Johnson to score, breaking the shutout and making it 4-1.
  • Tony Zambito's RBI single in the bottom of the frame, with Mike Ferrett crossing the plate, gave So. Conn back its four-run lead at 5-1.
  • An Andrew Jemison fifth inning RBI single, scored Danny Di Marzo to cut the deficit to 5-2.
  • So. Conn's Mike Ferrett got the run back in the bottom of the fifth, via an RBI single with Mike DeMartino coming home.
  • Bill Sullivan would score the Owls final run of the game in the sixth on the strength of a failed pickoff attempt to give Southern Connecticut a 7-2 lead and the game.
