John Archer and Andrew Alameda Take Home ECC Baseball All-Conference Honors

Sparkill, N.Y. - St. Thomas Aquinas College’s John Archer and Andrew Alameda were each named second team selections on the East Coast Conference All-Conference Baseball team, announced Wednesday by league officials.

The Spartans, clinched the fourth and final playoff berth on the regular season's final weekend and come into postseason action with a 23-25 overall record and a 14-10 ECC mark. 

Archer, led the STAC starting rotation in 2023 as the ace of the staff. He posted a 4-5 record, with a 4.73 earned run average over 64.2 innings pitched, while striking out the opposition 50 times. The grad-student from Dobbs Ferry, New York was named a two-time ECC Pitcher of the Week and concluded regular season play with the fourth most innings pitched (64.2), 6th fewest walks allowed (17), 10th most strikeouts (50), 10th lowest earned run average (4.73) in the league.

Meanwhile, Alameda pitched himself to a 5-4 mark, with a 5.43 earned run average in 61.1 total innings of work while fanning opposition hitters on 48 occasions. The junior from Farmindale, N.Y. wrapped up his regular season campaign with the fifth most wins (5), sixth most innings pitched (61.1), eighth lowest opposition batting average (.279) and ninth fewest walks (24) in the conference.

No. 4 seeded STAC will take on the top-seed D'Youville University in the opening round of the ECC Baseball Tournament, which gets underway on Thursday, May 9 at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, New York. First pitch between the Spartans and Saints is set for 3:00 p.m.
