Spartan Esports Duo Qualifies for Fortnite Stage 2 Tournament

This past weekend, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Esports Fortnite duo of Kian Bachinsky and Mohammad AliDad competed in the final Collegiate Starleague Fortnite Qualifier Tournament. The two received a bye in the first round of 128, before reeling off three straight wins against the likes of Grand Canyon University, Ashland University and Northeastern University, all by scores of 2-0. Their quest to become tournament champions ended in the Round of 8, where they fell to a duo from Grand Canyon University.

Their stellar performance however did not go unnoticed, and was rewarded when they were selected for an at-large bid for the Stage 2 Tournament. This is a double elimination bracket format with 32 teams, which will take place on March 9th. The top 4 teams in this tournament will qualify for the CSL Fortnite LAN Finals.

In ECC College League of Legends action, the Spartans took on the Molloy College Lions, losing by a score of 2-0. STAC's record drops to 1-3 in the regular season and they will close out their inaugural season of conference play this Friday night against Southern New Hampshire University.
