The St. Thomas Aquinas College Esports team captured its first-ever ECAC Fornite Championship in program history with outstanding performances by two Spartan gaming squads, competing against several top programs in the ECAC.
Entering championship night, STAC held a first place lead over 42 other teams in the standings. In game one of the finals, a second place finish with a game-high nine eliminations helped earn the Spartans 60 points.
In the deciding game two of the finals, a fantastic winning strategy and five eliminations secured the title for the Spartans. Senior Homayoun AliDad, junior Mohammad AliDad and sophmore Matthew Otterstedt worked together to win the 2v2 duo style league. The squad finished the fall campaign with 341 total points, 28 more than second place team. They were also one of two teams with over 100 eliminations (112).
St. Thomas Aquinas College looks to ride this momentum into the spring season.
