Spartan Super Smash Bros. Team Heads to Atlanta for CECC Cup

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Super Smash Bros. 3v3 team has qualified for the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC), which will be held at the Gateway Center Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, May 6-8.

The Spartan squad, consisting of student-athletes Mathew Otterstedt, Nicholas Shalaba, Joseph Murphy, and Zachary Longua placed second in the CECC Mid-Atlantic Invitational, earning their invitation to the championship round.

The Collegiate Esports Commissioner Cup is the largest collegiate esports live event ever, consisting of 64 teams playing six game titles, with all having earned their way to an invite. In their first full year, the STAC Smash Bros. team has won an Individual East Coast Conference Championship, placed second in both ECC and ECAC 3v3 crew battle, and now heads to the Commissioners Cup.
