Spartans Fall 1-0 in Overtime

The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team lost 1-0 in overtime to AIC on Friday evening.  In a tight defensive game both teams remained scoreless in regulation.  Jessica Stewart had five saves for the Spartans.

STAC had fourteen shots on goal but were unable to connect.  Kaitlyn Gutenberger and Carley Davin each had two shots on goal.

Chelsea Davis scored for the Yellow Jackets 77 minutes into the game to lift AIC to victory.  It was the ninth penalty corner of the game for AIC, and Davis had no intention of any more happening, ripping a slapshot from the left side and hitting the back board of the goal to break the scoreless deadlock with her first career goal. Sophomore midfielder Anna King earned her first career assist by making the insert on the play.

STAC will return to action on Saturday at 5:00 pm when they play Slippery Rock.
