Spartans Fall 3-1 With Late Mavericks Run

The St. Thomas Aquinas field hockey team lost to Mercy College, 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.  Alicia Williams scored two late second half goals for the Mavericks lifting them to victory.  

Louise Richardson scored the Spartans only goal fifteen minutes into the second half to tie the score at one apiece.  Richardson put the Spartans on the scoreboard with a scoop shot off a penalty. 

Vanessa Soler scored the first goal for Mercy College and added an assist on what ended up being the game winning goal. 

Jessica Stewart had three saves for the Spartans while Julia Amell recorded five for Mercy.  STAC had ten corner opportunities to the Maverick's eight.  

Thursday's game was a play for pink game for the Spartans.  The Spartans will return to action on Monday when they travel to Pace University for a 4:00 game.
