Strong Second Half Propels Spartans Past Lions, 5-3

The St. Thomas Aquinas Field Hockey team won their second game in a row, picking up a 5-3 victory at Molloy College on Sunday.

The Spartans received goals from five different players including one from Jade Hall, who scored ger first goal of the season.  Hall's goal came just 13 minutes into the game off an assist from Carley Davin.  The Lions were able to tie things up with a goal from Nadia Elcock, but Kaylee Pistner responded right away to give the Spartans back the lead.  Pistner's goal came off an assist from Jacqueline Dowling and the Spartans held a 2-1 lead at the break.  

Molloy started off the second half scoring action tying the game up a 2-2.  Taylor Hickey and Meghan McCarren responded with back to back goals to extend the Spartans lead to 4-2.  Alexandra Vippolis and Pistner added assists respectively.  The Lions added one more goal but Arielle Rodriguez scored off a McCarren assist to help secure the win for the Spartans.  

The Spartans complete the sweep of the Lions and held a slight advantage in shots, 21-19.  Suzanne Clarke recorded 8 saves for STAC.  STAC will return to action on Friday when they host Newberry at 4:00 p.m.
