The St. Thomas Aquinas women's field hockey team picked up their third win in a row with a second half goal from Kaylee Pistner to lift the Spartans to a 1-0 win. The Spartans, who are in their 3rd season, have more then doubled their wins from the 2016 season.
It was a defensive battle for most of the game with each team only getting off five shots apiece. Pistner's goal was her second of the season and came at the 42:52 mark, unassisted. Newberry had 7 penalty corner attempts to the Spartans 2.
Suzanne Clarke earned her 4th win in goal with three saves for the day. The Spartans move to 5-7 with the win and Newberry drops to 4-6. The Spartans will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Mercy College for a 4:00 game.
