Preview: Spartans Seek First-Ever Post Season Victory in NE-10 Field Hockey Tournament
The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Field Hockey team takes the #7 seed into Tuesday's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, traveling to face #2 Adelphi University at 4:00 pm.

How They Got Here - The Spartans wrapped up the regular season with a record of 9-9 and 7-7 in the NE-10, clinching a spot in the tournament. The standings/seeding results are as follows: #1 Saint Anselm College (16-2 overall, 13-1 NE-10), #2 Adelphi University (14-4 overall, 12-2 NE-10), #3 Southern New Hampshire University (15-3 overall, 12-2 NE-10), #4 Stonehill College (11-5 overall, 11-3 NE-10), #5 Assumption College (15-3 overall, 11-3 NE-10), #6 Bentley University (9-9 overall, 7-7 NE-10), #7 St. Thomas Aquinas College (9-9 overall, 7-7 NE-10), #8 Franklin Pierce University (8-10 overall, 7-7 NE-10).
 
The Match-Up - St. Thomas Aquinas faced Adelphi one time during the 2019 regular season, falling to the Panthers 4-1 on September 17th. The match-up, held at Spartan field, saw the Spartans strike first on a Lisa Larsson first quarter tally. However, Adelphi would strike four consecutive times on goals by Danielle Kempf (1st Qtr.), Danielle Powers (2nd Qtr.), Elissa Frein (3rd Qtr.) and Allie Laird (4th Qtr.) to capture the victory.
 
Players to Watch - The Spartans were led in the regular season by Briannah Thorne with 25 points (12 goals & 1 assist), Lisa Larsson with 17 points (7 goals & 3 assists) and Lotte Strijbos with 12 points (5 goals & 2 assists). In the cage, Suzanne Clarke played in all 18 contests, going 8-9 with a 2.35 goals against average and a .737 save percentage, while teammate Jessie Hohenstein sported a 1-0 record with a 2.86 goals against average and a .692 save percentage in 8 games played.

On the other side, the Panthers were led by Elissa Frein, with 21 points (8 goals & 5 assists), Jackie Brown with 19 points (8 goals & 3 assists), Kaylee Deleva with 16 points (6 goals & 4 assists) and Giana McKeough with 10 points (3 goals & 4 assists). In net, Stephanie Peragallo (9-2), Angelina Saunders (2-2) and Alexandra Kanapes (3-0) all saw significant time in the cage for Adelphi University during the regular season.

What's Next? - The winner of this quarterfinal match-up will advance to play the winner of #3 Southern New Hampshire University vs. #6 Bentley University in the semifinal round of the tournament on Friday, November 8th.
