STAC Field Hockey Drops 6-0 Decision to Saint Anselm in Regular Season Finale

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Field Hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to the Saint Anselm College Hawks on Saturday afternoon in Manchester New Hampshire.

Saint Anselm took a 2-0 first quarter lead on the strength of a pair of goals by Hannah Friend. Hawks would strike four more times in the third quarter, as Michelle Lemelin, Emma Bartle, Maeve Murphy and Hannah Potter would all tally goals to increase the lead to 6-0, which would be the final score.

Spartan goalies Suzanne Clarke (45:00/L, 8-9) and Jessie Hohenstein (15:00) saw time in net for STAC with Clarke making 7 saves and Hohenstein making 1 stop. Meanwhile, their counterpart in the Hawks goal, Julia Hand (W, 15-2) went the distance and made 4 saves.

Saint Anselm held both an 20-6 shots advantage and a 8-4 penalty corners edge for the game.

St. Thomas Aquinas (9-9, 7-7 NE-10) will be the 7-seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Spartans Quarterfinal opponent will be the 2-seeded Adelphi University Panthers (14-4, 12-2 NE-10). The playoff match-up will take place on Tuesday, November 5th at 4pm at Motamed Field in Garden City, NY. During regular season play, the Panthers defeated the Spartans by a score of 4-1 in a contest played at Spartan Field on September 17th.
