STAC Field Hockey Shut Out in Regular Season Finale at Assumption, 3-0

Worcester, Mass. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Field Hockey team closed its 2021 Regular Season, falling to Assumption University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly Stadium. The loss drops the Spartans to 8-10 (7-7 NE10), while the Greyhounds improve to 17-1 (14-0 NE10).
 
How it Happened

  • McKenzie Patterson put Assumption on the scoreboard in the 17th minute, as on a turnover by STAC, teammate Deirdre Burchill would find Patterson with a through ball that she would fire past keeper Jessie Hohenstein to make it 1-0.
  • Just three minutes later, the Greyhounds doubled their lead on a Shannon Quinlan tally, with the assist being credited to Isabel Primack. On the play, Lucy Malia would take the ball deep into the circle, finding Primack with a pass that would become a loose ball. On the ensuing netmouth scramble, Quinlan would take a shot that would hit the back of the net, making it 2-0.
  • The final Assumption goal would come in the third quarter, with just under three minutes left in the frame. Isabel Primack would tip-in a well placed shot by Deirdre Burchill off of a penalty corner to give the hosts a three-goal advantage, which would hold true until the final buzzer.
