Men’s Golf finishes 5th out of 18 at Peter King Memorial

The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's golf team finished 5th this past weekend at the Dowling College Peter King Memorial with a two day total 630 (309-321). On day one the Spartans were led by Chris Fitzpatrick who fired a tournament low 71 and senior Brian Viola who posted a solid round of 76. Rounding out the scoring were senior Pat Schwarze with an 80 and Tommy Fioramonti who shot 82. With a team score of 309, the Spartans found themselves 9 shots off the lead trailing Adelphi University (300) and Post University (309).

The Spartans struggled on the 2nd day amidst heavy rain and gusting winds. Pat Schwarze led the team with a round of 77 leaving him with a 2-day total of 157 good for a top 20 finish. Senior Brian Viola posted a round of 80 for a total of 156 leaving him tied for 16th place while Chris Fitzpatrick shot an 83 for a team low 154 good for a top 10 finish. Sean Campbell posted rounds of 83 and 81 placing him in a tie for 47th while Tommy Fioramonti shot 82-87 leaving him tied for 66th.

The Spartans are back in action on April 16th at Blue Hill Golf Course for a one day event with Nyack College followed by the UMASS Lowell River hawk classic on April 17-19.
