Spartans Advance to NCAA Championship

The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team finished in 5th place in the Atlantic/East NCAA Super Regionals and will now advance to the NCAA Championship for the 4th consecutive year.  The Spartans shot a team score of 318, which was just enough to edged their way into the Championship.  Mike Gunderson had a strong day for the Spartans posting a team low, 74; which was good for an 8th place finish.

Thomas Linehan shot his highest round on the final day, carding an 80, finishing tied for 6th overall.  Linehan shot 74, 76 in his first two rounds and was among the top 4 individuals for most of the tournament.  John Casey along with Nick Delango each rounded out the Spartans scorers with rounds of 82. Gunderson started out strong finishing the front nine 1-over and was able to get back to even with 5 holes to go.

The Spartans will now head to the NCAA Division II National Championship at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.  The first round will begin on Tuesday, May 15th.
