The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished round one of the Kiawah Island Fall Invitational in a tie for 5th place after posting a team score of 291. Hosted by USC Aiken, the Invitational has a field of some of the the top Division II teams in the country. Leading the Spartans in round one was junior Tommy Linehan who posted a stellar round of 69 (-3).
Also firing an under par round was sophomore Niklas Koerner who came in with 71 (-1). Freshman Anthony Berardo battled back from a rocky start after starting 3 over through his first three holes. He managed to finish his last fifteen holes 2 under par, for a solid round of 73 (+1). Rounding out the scoring were junior Nick Delango and freshman Kai Rastetter who both carded rounds of 78.
Out of 19 teams, the team sits in a tie for 5th place behind the nationally ranked programs of North Alabama, USC Aiken, Erskine and Coker College.
