Spartan Shoot School Record 11-under to Take the Lead

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team shot a school record 11-under par to forge ahead of the pack and take the lead at the NCAA Division II Super Regional.  Rai Kastetter set the pace carding a 4-under 67, with 5 birdies and 1 bogey.  Brendan Hunter and Thomas Linehan shot 3-under in their 2nd rounds respectively.

Hunter recorded 6 birdies in his round and Linehan had 5.  Niklas Koerner also shot under par carding a 70, and Kevin Gately shot a 1-over, 75, for the second day in a row.

The Spartans started the day in a three way tie for third place and seven strokes off the lead.  Their 11-under performance not only closed the gap but also gave them a two stroke lead over the 2nd place, Indiana U. of Pa.  STAC is 15 strokes ahead of 3rd place Adelphi, who they started the day tied with.

The Spartans enter the final round in good shape as they have a 22 stroke advantage over the 5th place team.  The top 3 teams will advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.
