Spartans Finish Fourth at Skidmore Dr. Tim Brown Invitational

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's golf team finished 4th this weekend at the Skidmore College Dr. Tim Brown Invitational. The team shot rounds of 298 and 292 to finish 17 shots behind the champions from Middlebury College.

During the first round of play the Spartans were led by junior Shkelqim Kukaj who continued his hot play with a 1-under par 70. Kukaj played steady all day carding 3 birdies, an eagle and only 4 bogeys. Junior Travis Fay and freshman Jake Yarmolowitz were able to card rounds of 73 and 74 respectively while Tom holmes and Joe Tammaro rounded out the team scoring each shooting 80. Playing as an individual, senior Glenn Watson carded his lowest collegiate round ever shooting a 2-over par 73. Watson had a difficult start to his round going 8 over par through his first 7 holes. Watson then went on to birdie 6 out of his last 11 holes to post his best round.

Sitting in 5th place after round 1, the Spartans came out playing better in round 2. Kukaj, Fay and Yarmolowitz all managed to card rounds of 72. Senior Tom Holmes bounced back nicely to card a round of 76 while freshman Joe Tammaro shot a final round 82. Senior Glenn Watson finished off the event with a 79. With a team score of 292 the team was able to jump up 1 spot to tie for 4th place.

The Spartans are back in action for their final event of the spring at the SNHU Spring Invitational at Beaver Meadow Golf Club in Concord, NH.
