Victor, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Golf team competed in the 23-team East/Atlantic Regional Preview at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, NY this weekend. The event, being hosted by LeMoyne College, was played at the site of the 2022 East/Atlantic Regional tournament. Conditions were extremely challenging during the event with temperatures in the low 40’s and wind gusting to 30mph. During the first round of play, the team was led by Norman Viron who shot a solid round of 74. Jake Yarmolowitz was the next low Spartan, managing to shoot a round of 77. Donte Groppuso was next with a 79. While Joe Tammaro managed to card a round of 80. Rounding out the team scoring was Nolan Skaggs who posted a round of 82. The Spartans team score of 310 left them in 8th place out of the 23 teams.

During the second round of play the Spartans were led by Groppuso who shot a nice round of 75. Right behind him was Viron who shot another solid round of 76. Joseph Tammaro was able to put up a 79 while Yarmolowitz and Skaggs both shot rounds of 82. The team’s final round 312 moved them down to 12th place, but just 11 shots out of second place in the extremely close event.
