The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team dropped a road game, 87-42 at C.W. Post. The Spartans received 15 points and 3 assists from sophomore Ra'Shad James.
Justin Brown hit a jumper to open the game, 2-0 in favor of the Spartans. Both teams exchanged baskets in the early minutes of the game. James hit his first three putting STAC ahead 9-8 before Post responded with a three form Nemanja Jokic. James drained a second three giving STAC a 12-11 lead, however the Spartans did not score for a ten minute stretch as C.W. Post ran off a 21-0 run. Flynn McFadden hit a three with 5:45 left in the half making the score, 32-15. The Pioneers extended their lead to twenty-three as they were up 44-21 at the break.
The Spartans were unable to cut into Post's lead during the second half as they shot 26.9 percent from the floor (7-27). The Pioneers had four players in double figures led by Jokic's 20 points and 7 rebounds. Johnathan Kohler added 16 while Roberto Macklin and Stephen Mears each added 12. C.W. Post held a 42-25 advantage on the boards.
The Spartans will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Bridgeport for a 7 PM game.
