The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team beat visiting Dowling, 46-44. The Spartans received 14 points from Jamie Blanchard while Ra'Shad James and Justin Brown each added 12 points.
The Spartans came back from being down 27-16 at the half as they outscored Dowling 30-17 in the second half. James and Brown each added 7 rebounds as both teams had 33 rebounds for the game. The Spartans went on a 16-6 run in the second half to close the gap and come within one behind two free throws by Blanchard. James hit a jumper with 4"15 remaining to give STAC a 39-38 lead. Dowling's Mike Hill scored a layup to regain the lead but Brown scored a jumper followed by a layup for STAC giving them a lead the would not let go of.
The Spartans will be back in action on Monday, December 21st as they host LeMoyne College.
