The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team lost at Queens, 82-75. Freshman Justin Brown had 24 points and 5 rebounds for STAC. Ra'Shad James added 17 points and 4 assists for STAC.
The Spartans got off to a quick start behind a three from James and a jumper from Brown to put them up 5-2. However Queens responded with a 13-0 run taking a 15-5 lead. Akim Neverson paced Queens in the first half with 13 points and 4 rebounds as the Knights held a 40-32 lead at the break.
Queens maintained a double digit lead, extending it to as many as fifteen before Sean Weaver knocked down a free throw to bring STAC within nine with 13:00 minutes remaining. The Spartans went on a 12-5 run to bring them within three with 8:45 to go but that was as close as they would get.
Jamie Blanchard had 11 points and 5 rebounds for STAC. Anderson Labase and Khaleef Allicott combined for 35 points for the Knights.
STAC will return to action on Saturday when they travel to NYIT for a 4 PM game.
