Spartans Blast Mavericks, 90 - 64

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team beat Mercy College, 90-64.  Freshman Justin Brown had a game high 21 points, including 4-4 from behind the arc and added 5 rebounds.  Ra'Shad James had 18 points and 8 assists.  Senior Vincent Johnson added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists as STAC honored their three seniors in a pre-game ceremony.

Brown opened the game with a 3-pointer  but the Maverick's Jimmy Gunville responded with a three of his own to tie them up.  Mercy took a 5-3 lead before senior Chad Williams scored a layup to tie the game again.  Brown hit his second three pointer giving STAC a lead they would not relinquish.  STAC pushed their lead to twelve, 22-10 behind a three from James as they remained in control of the game.  Daniel Skinner made two free throws in the final seconds of the half as STAC took a 41-31 lead into the break. 

Senior Linton Brown scored a layup with 17:33 left in the game to give STAC a double digit lead that they held onto for the rest of the game.  Brown also added a block and a steal for STAC as he played in his last home game.  Williams finished with 8 points, 3 boards and 2 assists.  The Spartans controlled the glass with a 42-23 advantage as Jamie Blanchard had a game high 8 rebounds to go with his 8 points. 

The St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Department would like to thank STAC's three seniors; Linton Brown, Vincent Johnson and Chad Williams for their hard work, commitment and dedication to the STAC athletic department. 

The Spartans will play their final regular season games on the road.  On Wednesday they travel to C.W. Post before traveling to Bridgeport on Saturday.
