The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team dropped a game at Molloy, 66-57. STAC received 15 points from Justin Brown and 13 points and 8 rebounds from Ra'Shad James. Vincent Johnson added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Linton Brown hit a three pointer, four minutes into the game to tie the score 6-6. On the next play, James scored on a dunk to take the lead for STAC. The Spartans stayed ahead until Ian Thomas-Miner made two free throws with 14:08 on the clock to regain the lead for Molloy, 14-13. STAC closed the half on a 7-0 run behind a three from Chad Williams and four points from Brown to go into the break down three, 31-28.
STAC regained the lead early in the second half behind a three from James. Both teams went back and forth a couple of time with Jamie Blanchard scoring a layup to give STAC a 40-39 lead with 13:48 left. Daniel Skinner knocked down a three to give STAC a 52-51 lead but Molloy pushed a 9-0 run to go ahead 60-52. The Lions went 9-10 from the foul line in the final minutes of play.
The Spartans will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Dowling for a 7 PM game.
