The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team captured its third straight victory, a 77-73 decision over Goldey-Beacom University at Aquinas Hall. In improving to 3-0 overall, the Spartans have now won 40 of their last 43 home games dating back to 2015, with Goldey-Beacom dropping to 0-3 on the season.

After nearly two scoreless minutes, GBU jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the strength of a Dwayne Dixon three-pointer, only to see the Spartans answer with a 7-0 burst of their own, with Demetre Roberts hitting from keep to key the rally. Kyle Elliott's trey gave the Lightning a 22-21 lead just past the midway point of the half, but STAC turned up the pressure with a 19-6 run to take a 40-28 lead with 4:28 to play. Goldey answered with a 10-0 outburst of its own before a pair of Sekou Cisse free throws gave the hosts a 42-38 edge at intermission.

As they did in the opening minutes, the Lightning came out strong after the break, with Corey Taite's three putting them on top at 46-44 with 16:47 left. Marcellus Livingston's lay-up at 12:43 extended the tally to 52-48, but again the Spartans roared back, scoring the next 16 points over a span of just under five minutes, with freshman Osbel Caraballo knocking down 11 of those points to make the score 64-52 with eight minutes left.

STAC held a 72-58 advantage with just under five minutes remaining but that lead was far from comfortable, as Taite scored six points in another 10-0 run to trim the gap to 72-68 with 1:34 left. Caraballo hit from in close but Troy Stancil answered with a three to make the score 74-71, and the visitors had a chance to tie the game in the final possession but Giovanni Jones' left-corner three attempt was off the mark, and the Spartans closed out the win.

Caraballo had 19 points and Cisse added 18 to go with eight rebounds to lead St. Thomas Aquinas. Taite led three Lightning players in double-figures, tying for a game-high of 19 with Dixon chipping in 17.

The Spartans return to action this weekend with a short trip to play at the Dominican Tournament, facing Post University on Saturday at 6:00 pm and squaring off with the hosts on Sunday at 5:00. They return home after Thanksgiving to play regional power Bloomfield on November 28 at 7:00 pm.
