The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team fell to an 87-73 loss to Dominican College in a non-conference battle at Aquinas Hall. The Spartans now stand at 6-1 overall while Dominican remains undefeated at 6-0.

Tavon Ginyard's three-pointer opened the scoring as Dominican opened an early 5-0 lead, and the Spartans struggled to a 3-of-18 start from the floor as the Chargers opened a 20-12 lead. Brandt Roundtree hit a pair from the line as the visitors extended their margin to 39-26 with just two minutes left in the half, but STAC scored the next five points to go into intermission with a 39-31 deficit.

That momentum carried after the break as Osbel Caraballo reeled off seven points in a 12-2 run to bring the score even at 45-45 after just 3:25 of action. Jonathan Garcia hit a field goal and a three pointer to put Dominican back on top, touching off a decisive 11-2 run. Wahhad Johnson's three opened the cushion to 65-49, but STAC pushed back as Demetre Roberts brought the hosts to within 74-67 with 5:15 still on the clock. Once again, the Chargers had the answer as that was as close as the Spartans were to get, with Dominican pulling away in the final minutes.

Caraballo led four Spartans in double-figures with 22 points, with Roberts (16 points), Jamar Sudan (12 points, 12 rebounds), and Sekou Cisse (11 points, 12 rebounds) chipping in for STAC. Ginyard led all scorers with 23 points, with Garcia adding 15 and Jason Copman grabbed a game-high 15 caroms for Dominican.

The Spartans hit the road to face the College of Staten Island in a 1:00 pm start on Saturday, November 30 and travel to Mercy College for their East Coast Conference opener on December 5 before returning to Aquinas Hall to host Roberts Wesleyan (December 11) and Daemen College (December 13).
