Spartan Ice Hockey Ranked #3 in First ACHA Atlantic Region Poll

In the first ACHA poll of the season, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team was ranked 3rd in the Atlantic Region. This follows the Spartans 6-3 start to the 2019-2020 campaign with key victories over Columbia University (10/4/19: 10-9/OT), Stevens Institute of Technology (10/6/19: 5-1), Rutgers University-Camden (10/26/19: 9-4) and Hofstra University (11/8/19: 4-3/SO).

The team is led by freshman Drew Lorenz with 9 goals and 11 assists (20 points), junior Patrick Burns with 7 goals and 11 assists (18 points), junior Shaun Benson with 8 goals and 8 assists (16 points) and junior Luke Broderick with 6 goals and 4 assists (10 points). Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, goaltender Carl Lorenz has a 6-3 record with a 4.46 goals against average and a .903 save percentage, appearing in all nine regular season contests played to date.

St. Thomas Aquinas College (6-3) hosts the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Friday, November 15th at Sport-O-Rama Ice Rinks in Monsey, NY. Puck drop is set for 8:30pm with pre-game ceremonies honoring active and retired United States Military personnel as part of the Spartans Salute to Service night.
