Spartan Ice Hockey Ranked #15 in Latest ACHA Atlantic Region Poll

In the latest ACHA poll, released on Friday afternoon, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team was ranked 15th in the Atlantic Region. This follows the Spartans 1-0 week, with an MCHC postseason clinching victory over Western Connecticut State University (7-2) last Saturday evening.

The team is led by senior Shaun Benson with 14 goals and 21 assists (25 points), freshman Drew Lorenz with 11 goals and 21 assists (32 points) and junior Patrick Burns with 11 goals and 18 assists (29 points). Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the puck, goaltender Carl Lorenz has an 11-4-1 record with a 4.01 goals against average and a .909 save percentage, appearing in all sixteen regular season contests played to date.

St. Thomas Aquinas (11-5-1) faces off with Hofstra University in a non-conference contest on Friday, February 7th. Puck drop is set for 9:30pm at the Northwell Health Ice Center at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. STAC then returns to Sport-O-Rama for their final home contest of the season on Saturday, February 8th. Gametime is scheduled for 8pm, with Senior Night festivities preceding the opening faceoff between the Spartans and Mustangs.
