STAC Closes Regular Season with 4-2 Senior Day Victory over Stevens Tech. to Remain in MCHC Playoff Hunt

Monsey, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Ice Hockey team closed its 2021-22 regular season schedule with a 4-2 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday night at Sport-O-Rama Ice Rinks.

The Spartans improve to 9-7 on the season, while Stevens Tech. falls to 9-5-2. STAC remains in the hunt for a trip to the MCHC playoffs, but will need a little help from either USMMA Kings Point or Columbia University, as both teams face SUNY Farmingdale this week. A loss by Farmingdale to either team, eliminates them and allows St. Thomas Aquinas to clinch the final playoff berth.

Prior to the contest between the Spartans and Ducks, STAC honored its graduating senior class; Douglas Harrison, Carter Taylor and Shaun Benson with on-ice ceremonies, which included the athletes' families, teammates, coaches and college administrators.

Once the puck was dropped, Sean Kunz, Shaun Benson, Drew Lorenz and Douglas Harrison tallied a goal apiece, with John Rosabella (7-7) making 26 stops to preserve the victory.
