Strong Start Lifts Eagles to 15-7 Win Over Spartans

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team lost to Post University, 15-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Joseph Nyemchek and David Pearl each scored two goals for the Spartans.

Post got off to a strong start scoring six first quarter goals including two from Paul Hylan.  The Spartans had ten shot opportunities in the opening quarter but their shots on goal were just off the mark.  

The Eagles scored the first two goals of the second half to give the visitors an 8-0 lead which ended up being the difference in the game.  The Spartans first goal came at the 11 :38 mark in the second quarter from Nyemchek.  

Post held an 11-1 advantage at half time, led by Trevor Buchas's three goals.  The Spartans outscored the visitors 6-4 in the second half adding three goals in the 3rd and three goals in the 4th.  

Kevin Alvora, David Pearl and Nyemchek scored goals in the third quarter for the Spartans.  Kieran Lee added an assist on Pearls goal.  Lee scored a goal to start off the 4th quarter and Thomas Hollway and Pearl scored the final two goals of the game. 

Ryan Mello had four saves in the game.  The Spartans won 9-12 face offs in the second half to improve their offense.  

Tuesday's game marks the final home game of the Spartans inaugural season. STAC will return to action next week when they travel to Georgian Court University for their final game of the season.
