Spartans Dealt Their First Loss Against UDC, 17-9

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season, 17-9 against UDC on Saturday afternoon.  Briele Caples and Brenton Mighty each scored two goals and added an assist.  

STAC was the first team on the scoreboard as Thomas Hollway scored off an assist from Caples at the 10:26 mark of the first quarter.  The Firebirds were able to add three first quarter goals of their own; two coming from LaRon Hinton.  

The Spartans were able to even things up with back to back goals from Tyler Senatore.  The Firebirds outscored the Spartans three to one to finish out the first half with a 6-4 lead.  

UDC continued their offensive charge into the third quarter outscoring the Spartans 8-2.  STAC received goals from both Caples and Mighty in the third quarter but the hosts held a 14-6 lead.  

Both teams added three 4th quarter goals as UDC was able to secure their first ECC win and third of the season.  STAC falls to 2-1 and 0-1 in ECC play.  Ryan Mello had 10 saves for the Spartans.  UDC had 40 shots to the Spartans 34.  

STAC will return to action on Tuesday evening at St. Joseph's in Long Island for a 7:00 p.m. game.
