The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team fell to Mercy College, 17-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Brenton Mighty and Tyler Senatore each scored two goals for the Spartans.
The Maverick's took control of the game right from the start scoring 8 goals from 8 different players in the opening quarter. Mercy continued their offensive attack in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Spartans, 5-1 to take a 13-1 lead into the break.
Senatore scored the only goal for the Spartans in the first half. Tommy McPartland had 3 goals and an assist to pace the Maverick's who held a 28-8 shot advantage in the first half.
The Spartans found more success in the 2nd half outscoring the visitors 6-3. Kevin Alvora and Briele Caples each scored in the 3rd quarter. Caples finished the game with a goal and two assists.
Joseph Nyemchek scored a 4th quarter goal along with Senatore's second goal and two from Mighty. Ryan Guild had 13 saves for the Spartans.
