Spartans Drop Hard Fought Game, 10-5

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team fell to LIU Post on Saturday afternoon, 10-5. Briele Caples scored two goals for the Spartans.

The Spartans got off to a strong start scoring the first three goals of the game.  Caples scored the first goal off an assist from Dewrail Rockett, Jr.  Joseph Nyemchek added a goal unassisted before Caples scored again to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead.  

The Pioneers scored the next seven goals with six of them coming from William Snelders.  Rockett and Tyler Senatore added back to back goals for the Spartans to bring them within two, 7-5. The Pioneers added one more goal to take an 8-5 lead into the half.  

Both squads tightened up the defense with the Spartans held scoreless in the second half and only allowing two goals for the home team.  Ryan Mello had 17 saves in the loss for the Spartans.  LIU Post dominated 50-19 in shots and 40-16 groundballs.  

The Spartans will host Chestnut Hill on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
