Mavericks End Spartans Streak with 13-6 Win

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team lost to Mercy, 13-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Briele Caples scored three goals for the Spartans while Brenton Mighty added two.

Both teams exchange goals throughout the first quarter with the Maverick's taking a 3-2 lead in the balanced attack.  The home squad used the second quarter to extend their lead to 8-4, outscoring the Spartans 5-2.  Tyler Senatore added a goal for the Spartans.  

STAC added back to back goals to end the third quarter down four, 10-6 but they would not get any closer.  The Maverick's added three fourth quarter goals, shutting out the Spartans to secure a 13-6 victory.  Dominic Scorcia had six goals and one assist for the Mavericks.

Mercy held a 38-22 shots advantage while turning over the ball one less time.  Ryan Mello had six saves in the loss.  The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they host the District of Columbia for a 3:00 p.m. game.
