Spartans Fall at Roberts Wesleyan, 11-8

The St. Thomas Aquinas men'a lacrosse team lost at Roberts Wesleyan, 11-8 on Saturday afternoon. Tyler Senatore scored three goals and had one assist to lead the Spartans.

The Redhawks scored two goals to the Spartans one in the first quarter.  Thomas Hollway scored for the Spartans off an assist from Senatore.  Roberts' Hunter Lemieux scored the first goal of the second quarter to give the home team a 3-1 lead.  The Spartans responded with three goals in a row to take their first lead of the game.  Two goals from Senatore and one from Briele Caples.  The Redhawks scored the final goal of the half to tie the game 4-4.

The home team used a five goal third quarter to open the game and take a 9-4 lead.  Lemieux scored three goals in the stretch.  Paul Rhodes scored early in the 4th quarter off an assist from Thomas Hollway.  Roberts fought back added another goal to extend their lead back to five, 10-5.  The Spartans scored three of the final four goals, two from Kevin Alvora, but it was not enough to close the gap. 

The two teams were close in shots with the Redhawks holding a slight 34-32 lead.  Ryan Mello had fourteen saves in goal.  The Spartans will retunr to action next Saturday when they host Molloy for their final home game of the season.  Saturday's game will be the senior day game for the Spartans three seniors.
