Senatore Scores Game Winner in Overtime to Lift Spartans Past Griffins, 7-6

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team came from behind to beat Chestnut Hill 6-7 in overtime.  Briele Caples scored four goals and added one assist.  Tyler Senatore scored two goals including the game winner in overtime.

The Spartans opened the game with Briele Caples scoring his 26th goal of the season.  STAC held onto a 1-0 lead through the first quarter.  Chestnut Hill's Scott Wilden tied the game up early in the 2nd quarter before Caples scored again to regain the lead for the Spartans.  Wilden again evened things out and both seems were tied up 2-2 at the break.  

Both teams scored two goals in the third quarter with Caples adding his third goal and Paul Rhodes scoring off an assit from Caples.  The Griffins scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter and held a 6-4 lead until Senatore scored with 1:52 remaining in the game to bring the Spartans within one.  Caples scored the tying goal just twenty seconds later.  

The Spartans held off the Griffins who had the ball last but could not convert.  Senator scored the game winning goal with 1:29 remaining in the extra session.  Chestnut Hill held a 39-30 shots advantage but had one more turnover than the Spartans, 10-9.  Ryan Mello had eleven saves including a key save during the sudden death overtime to earn the win.

STAC will return to action on Saturday when they play at Roberts Wesleyan.  Saturday's game is slated for 12:00 p.m.
