Spartans Pick Up Tough 12-9 Win Over UDC

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team beat the District of Columbia, 12-9 on Saturday afternoon.  Tyler Senatore scored four goals in the win while Joseph Nyemchek added three. 

Senatore scored the Spartans first goal of the game but the guest added the next four goals before Senatore scored again and the Spartans ended the first quarter down 4-2.  Two more goals from Senatore and one from Briele Caples allowed the Spartans to fight their way back into the game and finish tied 5-5 at the break.

The Spartans dominated the third quarter outscoring the Firebirds, 5-2; including five different goal scoreres, to take a 10-7 lead.  Nyemcheck added two fourth quarter goals to help the Spartans secure the win.  LaRon Hinton had four goals for the Firebirds.  Ryan Mello had 17 saves in the win for the Spartans.  Paul Rhodes, Brenton Mighty and Kevin Alvora each added one goal for the Spartans.  

The Spartans has a slight 40-37 shots advantage over UDC. STAC will return to action on Wednesday, April 4th when they host the NYIT Bears.  Wednesday's game is slated for 4:00 p.m.
