Senatore Scores Game Winner to Lift Spartans Over Chargers, 8-7

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team beat Dominican College, 8-7 on Thursday afternoon. Brenton Mighty scored three goals, including a 4th quarter goal to tie the game at 7 apiece setting the stage for the Spartans win. Tyler Senatore scored the game winner off an assist from Anthony Irizarry; each scored two goals for the game.

STAC took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter off goals from Mighty and Irizarry.  Both teams scored three goals in the second quarter as the Spartans held a 5-3 lead at the break.  Another set of goals from Mighty and Irizarry and a goal from Edward Kelly

The home team lead the way after the break as the Chargers outscored the Spartans, 4-1 and took a 7-6 lead after three quarters of play.  Irizarry was key down the stretch assisting both the game tying and game winning goals while the Spartans shutout Domincian in the final quarter.  Ryan Mello had 22 saves in the win and was key to the Spartans victory as Dominican had 59 shots to the Spartans 31.  

STAC will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to NYIT for a 4:00 p.m. game.
