Spartans Streak Ends With 14-8 Setback at Chestnut Hill

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's lacrosse team ends their three game winning streak with a 14-8 road loss at Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Luke Broderick, Anthony Irizarry and Brenton Mighty each scored two goals for the Spartans.

The Griffins got out to a strong start outscoring the Spartans 5-2 in the first quarter.  STAC received goals from Tyler Senatore and Mighty. The second quarter was dominated by the home team as they added four more goals, while STAC's Luke Broderick scored the final goal of the half.

Kevin Alvora opened the third quarter with a goal to bring the Spartans within five at 9-4.  Back-to-back goals from Casey Brown and one from Chris Dachowski gave Chestnut Hill their largest lead, 12-4. Brown finished with five goals and three goals for the Griffins.  

The Spartans outscored the Griffins 3-2 in the fourth quarter with two goals from Irizarry and one more from Broderick. Ryan Mello recorded 17 saves in goal for the Spartans.

Chestnut Hill held a 50-29 shot advantage over the Spartans.  

STAC will return to action on Saturday at 2:30 when they host Roberts Wesleyan.
