STAC Men's Lacrosse Drops 21-8 Decision to Georgian Court

The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 21-8 decision to Georgian Court University on Tuesday afternoon in Lakewood, NJ. Tyler Senatore led the Spartans' offense with 4 goals, while Hayden Olcott, Aedan Kearns, Jason Beddows and Thomas Chiapperino tallied a goal apiece.

The Lions and Spartans traded the first four goals of the game, as Michael Ventresca and Tyler Senatore scored to make it a 1-1 contest, followed by Lucas Iarossi and Senatore's second of the game to knot things at 2-2. GCU would score the final three of the opening quarter on the strength of two more goals by Ventresca and a Daniel Burnham tally to give Georgian Court a 5-2 lead at the end of one.

Georgian Court would open the scoring in the second quarter, as Devin Bell would score to make it 6-2, before STAC would respond with two of their own, as Aedan Kearns and Thomas Chiapperino would narrow the lead to 6-4 in favor of the Lions. P.J. Saracino and Tyler Senatore traded goals 44 seconds apart to make it a 7-5 game. However, GCU would score five more times before the half, as Tanner Lee, Ethan Doyle, Daniel Burnham, Randy Collins and Lucas Iarossi each picked up goals to extend the Lions lead to eight at 12-4.

After the break, GCU would pick up where they left off, as Michael Ventresca, Lucas Iarossi, Devin Bell and Tanner Lee would all light the lamp to make it a 16-5 Lions advantage. Jason Beddows would try to start a Spartan comeback by netting a goal of his own to narrow the Georgian Court lead to 16-6 after three.

In the fourth and final quarter of play, the Lions and Spartans would once again trade the first four goals of the quarter, with Michael Ventresca and Hayden Olcott scoring to make it 17-7, then Nicholas Mann and Tyler Senatore tallying goals to make it an 18-8 game in favor of GCU. Ryan Rigby, Mann and Daniel Burnham would net the final three goals of the game for Georgian Court to pick up the 21-8 triumph.

Ryan Guild (0-4) got the start in net for STAC. Craig Peavy and Giorgio D'Angelo would relieve Guild late in the first quarter and pick up 15 saves on 31 shots faced.

Georgian Court had a 60-33 shots advantage for the game.

The Spartans will next host Roberts Wesleyan College in an ECC contest on Saturday, April 11 at 1pm.
