Men's Lacrosse Closes Out 2021 Season, Falling 21-4 to Mercy College

The St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Lacrosse team closed out their 2021 season on Tuesday afternoon, falling to #3/#4 Ranked Mercy College, 21-4 at Spartan Field in Sparkill, NY. Tyler Senatore scored all four STAC goals on Senior Day.

In ceremonies preceding the contest between the Spartans and Mavericks, seniors Bodhi Gallo, Ryan Guild, Ed Kelly, Steven Odam, Pat Owens and Tyler Senatore were honored for their work and dedication to the men's lacrosse program.

When the game got underway, Mercy College would score the first six goals of the game, as Brady Kearnan (2 goals), TJ Heyder (3 goals) and Jack Gibbons all found the back of the net. Tyler Senatore would break the Mavericks goal scoring streak with one of his own to make it 6-1, before Gibbons would add his second of the game to make it a six goal advantage for Mercy, 7-1, at the end of one.

Second quarter action saw the visiting Mavericks own the scoresheet, as they would score six more times and keep the Spartans off the board. Dominic Scorcia, Tyler Pjatak, Andrew Calabria (3 goals) and Brody Caskenette would all net goals to extend the Mercy lead to 13-1 at halftime.

St. Thomas Aquinas would get themselves on the board after the break with back-to-back goals by Tyler Senatore to make it 13-3, but Marty Shargel, Kyle Gabrinowitz (2 goals) and Augustine Longhitano would all score to make the STAC rally attempt short lived and push the Maverick lead to 14 at 17-3 to end the third quarter.

In the fourth and final period, Mercy would light the lamp four more times, as Justin DeMonte, Augustine Longhitano (2 goals) and Kyle Gabrinowitz all scored, with a Tyler Senatore tally sandwiched in between Longhitano and Gabrinowitz goals to make it a 21-4 final in favor of the guys from Dobbs Ferry.

Ryan Guild (0-6) got the start in net for STAC and made 5 saves. Giorgio D'Angelo and Craig Peavy would relieve Guild for the final 41:48 and pick up 12 saves on 23 shots faced.

Mercy had a decisive 58-29 shots advantage for the game.
