Schucker Scores Four as Men's Lacrosse Gets Past Alderson Broaddus, 10-8

Philippi, W.Va. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team received a four-goal performance by freshman Jeremy Schucker en route to a 10-8 victory over Alderson Broaddus University at the AB Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.

How it Happened

  • Alderson Broaddus opened the scoring in the first quarter with back-to-back goals, as Braxton Roman and Maguire Willard found the back of the cage in the first two and a half minutes of the match, making it 2-0.
  • The visiting Spartans got themselves on the scoreboard with Jeremy Schucker's first of the afternoon to cut the deficit to 2-1.
  • Conner Calmbacher would immediately get the margin back to two (3-1) with a tally of his own for the Battlers.
  • The teams traded goals to close the stanza, as Reno Molina (STAC) and Calmbacher (AB) each scored in the final two minutes of action to give Alderson Broaddus a 4-2 advantage through 15 minutes of action.
  • In the second quarter, the Battlers would get a quick goal by Cameron Russo to go up 5-2, before the Spartans struck for three straight from Jeremy Schucker, Reno Molina and then Schucker's hat trick tally to tie the game a five all by halftime.
  • Following the break, Alderson Broaddus took a one-goal lead (6-5) on Conner Calmbacher's hat trick goal, but St. Thomas Aquinas picked up the final two tallies of the frame via Jack Margetson's pair of goals to give STAC its first lead of the day, 7-6.
  • Fourth quarter action saw the Spartans outscore the Battlers by a margin of 3-2 in the stanza, with Tanner Delorme (AB) first tying the game at 7-7. However, St. Thomas Aquinas proceeded to score the next three on the strength of goals by Jonathan Farley, Braiden Struss and Jeremy Schucker's four of the day to push the maroon and gold lead on the scoreboard to three at 10-7. 
  • Alderson Broaddus would make a late push, striking for a goal by Braxton Roman with 2:46 left to play in the match. The Spartans clamped down defensively the rest of the way and ran out the clock to pick up its first win of 2022.
