Spartans Edge Mercy, 3-2

 The St. Thomas Aquinas men's soccer team beat Mercy College, 3-2 in Saturday evenings game.Sean Reily scored two goals for the Spartans, both assists coming from Laurie Child.  Remington Lee added the game winner in the second half.  Andrew Tartara had one save for the Spartans.

The Mavericks scored early in the first half of a corner kick that to take a 1-0 lead.  Reily tied the game as he blasted a shot into the right corner off a cross from Child.  With both teams knotted at 1-1, Mercy's William Koki headed in the opening minutes of the second half.  However, the Spartans retaliated minutes later, as Child collected a loose ball in the box and found Reily who netted his second goal of the game.  Lee broke open the tie with the game winning goal shortly after and the Spartans held on for the 3-2 win.

"Jack Legg played excellent and Edgar Barragan was the player of the game," commented head coach Graham Brown.  The Spartans are now 6-0-3 and off to their best start under the helm of Brown.  STAC will host Queens College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Eugene Levy Memorial Park.
