Offensive Outburst Lifts Men's Soccer to 6-1 Victory over Daemen in Season Finale

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's soccer team rolled to a 6-1 victory in an East Coast Conference game at Spartan Field. After a slow start, the Spartans closed strong with four wins in their final six games, ending the 2019 season at 4-11-1 overall and 3-5 in ECC play, while Daemen wrapped up the year at 0-17-0, 0-8.

STAC jumped on top quickly as Ryan Collins found the net at the 6:07 mark, but the Wildcats rallied to tie on Derek Bartlo's tally at 13:16. It was all Spartans from there, as Nicholas Fiore gave the hosts the lead for good at 20:12, followed by Jorge Mazariego (25:13), Juan Pablo Varea (35:15), and Sergio Martin (40:57) for a commanding 5-1 lead at halftime.

Mazariego added his second of the day and team-leading seventh of the season in the final minutes to close out the scoring, as STAC recorded six goals on just 11 shots for the day. Cameron Turner picked up the win in goal, with Brian Hamerman coming in to finish the contest.
