Spartan Men's Soccer Storms Past D'Youville, 5-0

Buffalo, N.Y. – An offensive outburst helped the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team pick up a big win on the road on Saturday afternoon, as the Spartans defeated D'Youville College 5-0 at Dobson Field in Buffalo.

Cole Allen and Seif Samy led the attack with two goals apiece, securing the first multi-goal games of their respective STAC careers, and were joined on the action by Juan Pablo Cedeno Varea.

Allen was the first to strike, on a shot past keeper Ethan Picard at the near post, getting the Spartans on the board 16 minutes into the match.

A little less than 16 minutes later, Juan Pablo Cedeno Varea's second goal of the season made it a 2-0 game. Cedeno would steal the ball from D'Youville and make a series of moves around several Saints defenders and score past Picard.

STAC would take a 2-0 lead into halftime, outshooting their hosts 11-2 in the opening stanza.

Second half action saw more of the same from St. Thomas Aquinas, starting with Cole Allen picking up his second of the match in the 54th minute on a cross-field pass by teammate Gianfranco Banca to make it a 3-0 advantage for the maroon and gold.

Seif Samy would close out the scoring for the Spartans with back-to-back unassisted goals in the 73rd and 79th minutes to push the STAC lead to 5-0 and clinch the important ECC victory.
