STAC Men's Soccer Blanks Daemen, 4-0

Amherst, N.Y. – An offensive outburst helped the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Soccer team pick up a key ECC win on the road on Saturday afternoon, as the Spartans defeated Daemen College, 4-0 at Karrer Field in Amherst.

Jorge Umana led the attack with two goals and an assist in the match, while Anthony Bolivar Sanchez and Ryan Collins also tallied goals.

Ryan Collins was the first to strike, getting the Spartans on the board less than three minutes into the match, as Collins would take a Leonardo Osawa pass and bend it inside of the left post, past Daemen keeper Jarrett Lecceadone to put STAC up 1-0.

Anthony Bolivar Sanchez would pick up his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 25th minute on a chip pass by teammate Jorge Umana, which Bolivar Sanchez would elevate into the top right corner of the net past Lecceadone to double the Spartan lead at 2-0.

The final goal of the first half would come in the final minute of play, as Jorge Umana would boot a corner kick into the back of the Wildcat's net to make it a 3-0 St. Thomas Aquinas advantage at halftime.

After the break, the relentless STAC offensive attack would continue, and it would be Jorge Umana who would once again strike for a goal. This time Anthony Bolivar Sanchez would take an intercepted Daemen ball from Maxi Heuter and dance around his defender, finding a wide open Umana who would put a high shot into the top right corner of the goal to make it a 4-0 lead in the 57th minute.

STAC would maintain their four-goal advantage through the remainder of the second stanza and secure their seventh victory of the season, and their fourth within conference play, moving them to a second place tie with Molloy College in the ECC standings.
